Table Basics: Astonishing Magic Items

In the newest addition to the Table Basics series, treat your 5th Edition players to a new array of magic items. This tome of 118 new weapons, armor, and goods gives brand new powerful legendary items, as well as a large assortment of low magic equipment to treat your players with new abilities, without affecting the long term balance.

While the 5th Edition magic items tend to focus on long swords and spells, Astonishing Magic Items aims to give martial classes new combat choices, flavor the world with an armory of axes and blunt weapons, grant spell casters some melee options, and to view magical equipment through the lens of daily life in your campaign.

You can get the PDF here, only at Giant Slayer Games. Check out the Trailer below!

New Book – Preorder Now

Releasing on May 27th is my new self help book, Imposter Syndrome. A guide to help navigate the feelings of not being good enough in the tech industry, and rejecting societal pressures to go through life being a diagnosis.

Through my time as a software engineer, the one thing I’ve held true is that helping others improve is the best use of my time. I grew that idea into learning about the “super powers” of my teammates, and encouraging them.

There’s this secret identity that people hide in their professional life that is driven by their passions. It comes out when the work gets close to one of their skills, and you can see them light up.

One way to get the best end result is to find a way to keep people lighting up around their interests. It’s a lot like project managers removing road blocks, and simply getting things out of their way. Maybe it’s better to think of it like lining up dominos for them.

Imposter Syndrome explores the mindset and pressures of tech workers, and how to move past the labels that hold us back, and provides an interesting activity to try as a team building tool to identify these things.

The Last Handout

Although the last post had all of the handouts needed to create a character for play, there was one thing missing. Players that have more of the historical setting knowledge need the Setting Handout to get started.

This is for players who choose crafts like Massar Noble. There is just more information that is helpful for discovering the mythology and how the world is connected. Players who wanted to choose a cult will find their cults in this handout as well.

This is not only a test

Yay, rough draft for the Akkadian Rhythms Skills Handout is done! With that being said, I think it’s no longer time to babel on, and time to make good on the promise and release some PLAY TESTING MATERIALS!

What you’ll find is everything you need to make a character and run the game. The Player Handout covers character creation. The Combat & Equipment handout goes through all of the rules for resolving conflict either through fights or skills. The Skills Handout provides the details for starting a character and for leveling up to roughly level 10.

RPG Circus

Last night I had the pleasure of joining Jeff and Ben at the RPG Circus podcast to promote Timeless. We discussed the basics behind the system, the supplements, and the Woods of Edir series. This was also a great chance to ham it up with the hosts who never missed a beat. A real high class establishment. Although I’m sure they’d be modest and call it the illusion of such. It’s a great illusion! Keep up the good work.

Product Spotlight: Fearsome Devils

I think that with many RPG writers, I wanted to write fiction long before deciding to write an RPG. This is why this little Novella is so near to my heart. Fearsome Devils is my fest step in what I plan on making a long writing career in fiction and fantasy. Yet it does not fall far from the RPG tree.

The next supplement coming out for Timeless the RPG is called Woods of Edir. This is a fantasy setting that explores a lot more of the possibilities with magic in a heavy story system. (It also provides a nice bite of crunch for people looking for combat.) Fearsome Devils introduces players to the world that they will get to play in.

The story follows the actions of many of the denizens of the forest, known as the Children, as they try to keep their village going in the often harsh woods. They are under constant watch of the fearsome devils who try to control them. Yet even other Children become harsh antagonists getting in the way of their survival.

The main characters are Merg, a skilled Talker tasked with keeping the social woes of the villagers down, Syrel, a wayward Lightfoot struggling to keep his quarrelsome whims in check, Autumn, a mysterious Whisperer who watches over the forest with her skill and eccentricity, and Regg, a dependable and steadfast Master who works his hardest to help the villagers.
